What Iron Institute Is
Iron Institute is a strength and bodybuilding gym at Unit 55 Hollands Road, Haverhill. You get in with a key fob at any hour, so a 5am session before a shift works just as well as one at 10pm once the kids are in bed.
The floor is built for lifting, with multiple power racks, dedicated deadlift platforms, Olympic barbells and specialty bars, plate-loaded leg press, hack squat and chest press, and a shoulder press, all on black rubber matting with chalk on hand. For conditioning there's an air bike, a rower, a ski-erg and punch bags.
Membership numbers are capped so it isn't overcrowded. It's £30 a month, or £50 for two. Two personal trainers, one male and one female, also coach at the gym and run their own businesses. A lot of members have competed, and some of them help others get ready for a show. First-timers train alongside people who have been lifting for years. Run by Lifters
Iron Institute is owned and run by seasoned gym-goers and bodybuilders. Training isn't a sideline for them, they live and breathe it, and that's why the floor is built around racks, platforms and heavy kit rather than rows of treadmills.
